I Do! Wedding Cakes
You’ve seen their creations in the pages of Wedding Bells and Toronto Life. Located in midtown Toronto, I Do! Wedding Cakes has been “doing” wedding cakes since 2006. The bulk of their inventory is traditional, three-tiered wedding creations, but they aren’t afraid to branch out into a multi-cupcake display or even miniature individual wedding cakes. From their new budget-friendly I Do! Collection of designs to edible art a little more dramatic – say, a complete line of Burberry luggage perhaps? – I Do! has you covered.
Cake designer Samantha Lee uses her love of fashion, architecture and design to create truly one-of-a-kind wedding cakes. As owner of Flour Fancies, Lee oversees each step of the process from initial consultation to finished masterpiece. With one of her cakes at your wedding, guests will remember your reception for years to come. Lee has received recognition for her elegant wedding-dress cake and a royal tribute to William and Kate’s wedding. Who knows what magic she’ll come up for your wedding?
Cake or Death
Cake or Death focuses on delivering cakes that are traditional with a definite twist. The inspiration for the company name came to owner Kristin Peres after watching an Eddie Izzard skit, after all. Why not have them whip up a pistachio-flavored cake with cardamom butter cream frosting shaped into a multi-tiered masterpiece? Or maybe a whimsical, asymmetrical treat with colorful fondant dots that’s perfect for an outdoor summer wedding? Peres aims for completely edible designs, and can accommodate requests for dairy- and gluten-free cakes.
For the Love of Cake
What would you do to satisfy your love of cake? Thankfully, Genevieve Griffin-Finley is willing to do the hard work to make any desire you can dream up come to life in fondant and frosting. Located in the Liberty Market, For the Love of Cake is prepared to create your perfect wedding cake. Cakes can commemorate the place where you and your honey met or fit your wedding theme.

Bobbette & Belle
Chances are you will find your perfect wedding cake design among the designs in Bobbette & Belle’s signature collection. They’re just that good. If you want a completely made-to-order creation, though, owners Allyson Bobbitt and Sarah Bell can help you out. The friends first came together over their love of French macarons, which they still sell in their store in Leslieville. They found their business model in the fashion industry, and run their store with “prêt-a-porter” designs and seasonal creations. It almost makes us want to have a wedding a season.
Flour Confections’ owner Lisa Bugeja is committed to keeping her decorating skills sharp. If there’s a new technique out there, chances are she has either perfected it or is well on her way. Not convinced? Her recent appearance as part of the winning team on Slice Network’s Cake Walk should win you over. From her studio in Pickering, Lisa creates custom-made wedding cakes, or as she calls it, “Art you can eat.” Past cakes include everything from graphic black-and-white cushioned designs to a minimalist flower concoction.
