My Parents’ 1978 Toronto Wedding Album by Ashleigh Bliss
If you’re a fan of cheesy, posed wedding photos like I am, then I have a great set of images for you! The 70’s gave us lots of great thing: the Walkman, Ziploc bags, and the eternal classic, Diff’rent Strokes. A couple of not so great things to come out of the 70’s: ruffled tuxes, the original hipster mustache, and some of the other outrageous fashion found at my Mom and Dad’s 1978 wedding.
They were married on June 3rd, 1978 at St. Thomas Moore church in Scarborough, and their reception was held at a place that sounds incredible classy, The Granada Inn. There are conflicting stories about who made the big decisions when it came to fashion on their wedding day, but I do know for certain that my dad had to leave his hippy days behind by cutting his hair, and taking out his earring.
All kidding aside, they are still married after 33 years, so they must have been done something right that day, and I can only hope that one day, I too have a long, happy marriage like theirs, and a wedding album that my children can one day laugh hysterically at. Thanks mom and dad!
